I was born in Silicon Valley when dial-up internet was still a thing, and grew up seeing how software and the Internet transformed life for millions of people around the world. I developed a love for technology after learning how to code in fourth grade, and later built websites for pocket money in high school and college (my firm’s website is still up).
After completing a degree in Math and Econ in under 3 years at Dartmouth, I headed to PwC to work in International Tax, helping multinationals restructure their businesses in Asia. It wasn’t long until I felt the itch to get back into tech.
In 2015 I joined Uber — soon after I was leading uberPOOL in China where I oversaw the growth of the product to 15 cities, and was responsible for millions of dollars a week in incentive spend. After Uber China was sold to Didi, I moved to Singapore to lead product strategy for APAC, where I got to experience the vibrant markets in Southeast Asia, Australia / New Zealand, and Northeast Asia. I left in 2018 when Uber Southeast Asia was sold to Grab and am still a passionate shareholder.
On the side, I’m an avid film enthusiast (I watched a lot of movies while criss-crossing Asia for Uber). A friend of mine cofounded Cinema Escapist with me, a 501(c)(3) non-profit publication seeking to explore and connect the world through film and media. I’m the Editor for our Asia Section, as well as overseeing finance and technology. This originally started as a casual project but we managed to build it into a publication quoted by major news outlets, and score interviews with Taiwanese legislators as well as famous actors and directors. I also got interviewed by the BBC.
